Why Study Marketing at EIU?

  • 100% of Marketing graduates from the class of 2018 were placed in careers or graduate programs — a concrete, real number, not a vague promise.
  • The School of Business carries accreditation from the premier global accrediting body for business schools — a meaningful quality signal to employers.
  • The curriculum explicitly develops analytical thinking, data interpretation, research skills, and presentation ability — not just marketing theory.
  • Every marketing and business class is taught by faculty members using collaborative, project-based teaching methods.
  • Whether you're creative, analytical, people-oriented, or a natural planner, the program is explicitly designed around the traits that actually drive marketing success.
"Being Billy means I get to be at every big moment on campus - from cheering on the Panthers at Homecoming to surprising freshmen on move-in day. There's no better way to be a part of EIU history."

Hands-On Experience

  • Students get real professional networking, career insight, and direct interaction with faculty and marketing practitioners through EIU's own AMA chapter.
  • MAR 4275 lets students apply coursework in a real workplace setting, counted directly as elective credit.
  • MAR 3970 gives students the opportunity to gain global marketing experience as part of their degree, not as an extracurricular add-on.
  • Strategy and Policy (BUS 4360) has students pull together everything they've learned — marketing, finance, operations — into real strategic decision-making, alongside a required Senior Seminar.
  • Marketing Research and Consumer Behavior courses apply real research methods to understand and influence actual buying decisions, not just textbook case studies.
