What You'll Learn

With diverse needs for precise, timely acquisition of spatial data, its analysis and cartographic presentation, the curriculum allows students to complement almost any major by using state of the art technologies in current mapping techniques and practices.  Examples - a biology student investigating the migratory patterns of Monarch butterflies could produce a graphic showing all of the flight paths.  A criminology major could use this to create databases of Registered Sex Offenders in an area.  A marketing student could input demographics and other data and analyze where best to site the next store in a retail chain.  This is a powerful tool in an increasingly digital world of real-time data analysis.
