Daily Crime Log

The Police Department at Eastern Illinois University is required to create, maintain, and make available an easily understood daily crime log. The daily crime log must include the nature, date, time, general location of each crime that occurs within the institution’s Clery Geography, and the disposition of the complaint, if known. The University Police Department must make the entries available within two business days of the report of the information, unless the disclosure is prohibited by law or would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim. The University Police Department may withhold this information if there is clear and convincing evidence that releasing it would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or safety of the individual, cause the suspect to flee or evade detection, or result in the destruction of evidence. However, UPD must disclose any withheld information once the adverse effect is no longer likely to occur. The University Police Department is required to make the crime log for the most recent 60-day period open to the public inspection during normal business hours and any portion of the log older than sixty days available within two business days of a request for public inspection.

2025-08-14	Disorderly Conduct	Campus	On August 14, 2025 an officer was flagged down about a reported immigration violation. The complainant was advised to block the numbers and not engage.
2025-08-14	Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Fleeing and Eluding	Outside Clery Geography	On August 15, 2025 at approximately 1:05 a.m., UPD officers assisted CPD with setting up a perimeter and transporting juvenile suspects after a stolen vehicle fled from police. This incident was referred to CPD.
2025-08-17	Theft of Mislaid Property	Outside Clery Geography	An officer from Manteno police department notified the CPD of a vehicle that was involved in taking a mislaid item. The vehicle was located by CPD in the 2100 block of 4th street. A stop was made on the vehicle and the item was retrieved.
2025-08-18	Hit and Run	Campus	On August 18, 2025 between 4:47 p.m. and 6:12 p.m. a white SUV was struck on the rear passenger quarter panel in the driveway by Kappa Delta. There are no suspects at this time.
2025-08-11	Burglary	Campus	Sometime between August 11, 2025 at 5:30 a.m. and August 19, 2025 when the burglary was reported at 8:16 a.m., forced entry was made to a Kinesiology classroom and an anatomical skeleton was severely damaged. This case is pending suspect information.
