Daily Crime Log

The Police Department at Eastern Illinois University is required to create, maintain, and make available an easily understood daily crime log. The daily crime log must include the nature, date, time, general location of each crime that occurs within the institution’s Clery Geography, and the disposition of the complaint, if known. The University Police Department must make the entries available within two business days of the report of the information, unless the disclosure is prohibited by law or would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim. The University Police Department may withhold this information if there is clear and convincing evidence that releasing it would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or safety of the individual, cause the suspect to flee or evade detection, or result in the destruction of evidence. However, UPD must disclose any withheld information once the adverse effect is no longer likely to occur. The University Police Department is required to make the crime log for the most recent 60-day period open to the public inspection during normal business hours and any portion of the log older than sixty days available within two business days of a request for public inspection.

2026-02-17	Disorderly Conduct 720 ILCS 5/26-1	Campus	On February 17, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Student Recreation Center in reference to fights in progress. Upon arrival, officers identified the individuals involved. A staff member requested that both parties leave the facility for the remainder of the day. No criminal charges were filed. The case was closed, and the incident was referred to the Dean of Students.
2026-02-18	Disorderly Conduct 720 ILCS 5/26-1	Residential Hall	On February 18, 2026, at approximately 1:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence hall in reference to fights in progress. Upon arrival, officers identified the individuals involved. One of the individuals requested to file charges of disorderly conduct. The case was forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s Office and the Dean of Students for further processing.
2026-02-19	Disorderly Conduct	Campus	On February 19, 2026, at approximately 2:07 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Booth Library regarding a report of several juveniles harassing students. The juveniles were described as riding bicycles. Officers were unable to locate the individuals, and the specific verbal comments reportedly directed toward the EIU students could not be determined.
2026-02-19	Disorderly Conduct	Campus	On February 20, 2026, a report was made to officers regarding an incident that occurred online on February 19, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m. An individual reported that someone had posted artificial intelligence–generated images online. This is an open investigation.
2026-02-21	Drug Use	Residential Hall	On February 21, 2026, at approximately 1:45 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residential housing in reference to a report of drug use. Upon arrival, it was determined that an individual under the age of 21 had used drugs while inside a dorm room. The incident was referred to the Dean of Students for administrative processing.
