Physics offers Honor courses for those in the Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College. These courses, while similar to the regular courses, come with extra challenges. Our class sizes still remain small so the professors know the students. This is one of the great attributes of EIU.

Our Physics major in the Honors College, Aly Douglass, said, "Throughout my time at Eastern Illinois University, I’ve come to love the amazing community and campus! One of the reasons I chose EIU was due to the welcoming staff and professors and the connection I saw between them and their students. After two years here, I’ve had the opportunity of seeing that my first impression was right! I love how passionate the professors in the physics department are and how much they care about students' success. They are always willing to take the extra time to help students understand difficult material and develop a deeper understanding of physics. I’ve enjoyed all of my physics classes and being able to learn about how the world around me works! Being a part of the Pine Honors College has provided me with the opportunity to meet peers who share my passion for learning and professors who challenge me to broaden my perspective and develop the way I think. I’ve loved getting to know all the different honors students I’ve met and enjoyed being able to learn alongside them! The honors college and professors have helped prepare me for my future career and life beyond EIU. I’m excited to see what the next few years at EIU will bring!"
