Maintenance & Operations Shops
FPM’s Maintenance & Operations group oversees day-to-day maintenance and repair across Eastern Illinois University’s campus, including more than 100 buildings and 350 acres.
The team includes Work Control and nine skilled trade shops that handle everything from routine repairs to specialized systems.

Work Control
Work Control coordinates all incoming requests and assigns work to the appropriate shop.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Carpentry
Handles general carpentry repairs and installations, including:
- Doors, locks, and hardware
- Wall and ceiling repairs
- Floor and ceiling tile replacement
- Window boarding and repairs
- Furniture repair and assembly
Control Operations
Manages building automation and system controls, including:
- Building automation systems
- Temperature controls
- Instrumentation maintenance and calibration
- Preventative maintenance support
Electrical
Maintains electrical systems and campus lighting, including:
- Interior and exterior lighting
- Wiring and electrical repairs
- Lamp replacement (including HID and mercury vapor)
- Fire alarm and campus clock systems
Grounds
Maintains campus outdoor spaces and site features, including:
- Lawn, landscape, and hardscape maintenance
- Tree care and removal
- Athletic field upkeep during normal hours
- Tent setup
HVAC & Mechanical
Maintains campus heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, including:
- Steam and chilled water systems
- Building temperature control
- Refrigeration and air conditioning
- Food service equipment
- Pool systems and water chemistry
Painting & Resurfacing
Provides interior and exterior finishing services, including:
- Painting walls and ceilings
- Surface repairs and refinishing
- Campus signage
- Window glazing and repairs
Plumbing
Maintains campus plumbing systems, including:
- Domestic water systems
- Sanitary and storm drainage
- Gas lines and gas-fired equipment
Roofing & Waterproofing
Responsible for roof systems and water protection, including:
- Roof repairs and maintenance
- Gutters and downspouts
- Foundation and deck waterproofing
- Snow and ice removal from roofs
