Analyzing JSTOR Resources with Constellate

Thursday, March 14, 3:30 pm

Text analysis offer ways of using computers to help process and “read” large amounts of text. This workshop will introduce Constellate, a text analysis tool made for working with material from JSTOR, the popular digital library of secondary and primary sources. In this workshop, we'll learn about what data is available through Constellate, how to access it, and how you might use Constellate to explore JSTOR texts in your work. If you already use JSTOR, you won't want to miss this!

Spatial Storytelling with ArcGIS StoryMaps

Thursday, March 28, 3:30 pm

Esri's ArcGIS StoryMaps allows you to combine GIS data with effective visuals to create powerful interactive and informative presentations. If your information can be visualized spatially, as a map, it can also be turned into a StoryMap. In this workshop, we'll build a basic StoryMap and discuss possible uses in the classroom, for presentation of one's research, and other applications.

Visualizing Scholarly Networks with OpenAlex

Thursday, April 11, 3:30 pm

OpenAlex is a free, easy-to-use catalog of global research similar to Web of Science or Scopus. Visualizing data from these resources is a powerful way to explore citation networks, co-authorship networks, and even thematic connections across a wide range of research. In this workshop, we'll learn how to access citation data from OpenAlex and visualize that data in multiple ways. If you are interested in citation impact, bibliometrics, and related topics, you'll find something interesting in this session!
