The University Police Department is issuing this timely warning in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus
Security Policy and Campus
Crime Statistics Act.
A student reported receiving threatening communications from a known male individual through a phone conversation. During the exchange, the suspect made explicit threats to harm the student who lives on campus.
The suspect has been identified. The investigation remains active.
While there is no confirmed, immediate threat to campus, this warning is being issued out of caution due to the nature of the threats and the suspect's current unknown whereabouts.
Safety Tips:
Report suspicious messages or threats immediately to the University Police at 217-581-3212
Avoid engaging with individuals who make threats or demand money.
Limit sharing personal information through social media or unfamiliar contacts.
If you see something concerning, say something.
