Brenda L. Ross has been named the new director of admissions at Eastern Illinois University, and is expected to begin her duties on Aug. 2.
As director, her primary responsibility will be the administration of the university's undergraduate recruitment, admissions, application processing and enrollment planning activities. These are areas in which Ross is well versed, having served in a similar position at Millikin University in Decatur for the past three years.
"I am excited about joining the Eastern Illinois University community," she said. "I'm looking forward to guiding the admissions office forward with the university's mission."
Previously, Ross served for two years as the assistant director for high school relations at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, also assuming the responsibilities of director of admissions.
While at SIU-C, she also served as coordinator of multicultural enrollment, as supervisor of special events and as an admissions counselor.
Ross earned both her bachelor of arts and master of fine arts degrees from the College of Communications/Fine Arts at SIU-C in 1981 and 1984, respectively.
"Because of the surge in student interest in Eastern and our strong reputation, we have some welcome opportunities to refine our recruitment and admissions efforts and sharpen our niche in the educational marketplace," said Blair Lord, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "I look forward to working with Ms. Ross to realize these opportunities and move Eastern to the next level."
Ross will replace Dale Wolf, who is retiring after 19 years of service to the university.
