Eastern Illinois University remains an institution committed to access, opportunity, and inclusive excellence. Our longstanding mission embraces diversity and inclusion -- attributes we know are fundamental to a deeper understanding of ourselves and greater respect for each other. These commitments are foundational in EIU’s vision to advance engaged citizenship through personal connections and interpersonal experiences. Regional public universities are doors of opportunity -- particularly for underrepresented and disadvantaged student populations. EIU has always worked to meet individual students where they are and to provide the supports necessary for them to enroll, persist and earn their degrees.
