EIU’s Academy of Lifelong Learning to host “Invisibly Present”

Seminar will explore topics of Aging & Advocacy Sept. 13

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University’s Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) will host a seminar about advocacy towards seniors from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 13 at the Lifespan Center’s auditorium, located at 11021 E CR 800 North in Charleston.

The seminar will be discussing how people tend to be treated as if they’re “invisibly present” as they get older and will address the subconscious views that people may have about older generations in society. Attendees will learn about terms and ideas that are associated with erasure towards older people, and how they can be better advocates and allies for older people in their communities.

This event will be presented by Dr. Jim Howley, and it is free and open to the public. While the event is open to everyone, the Academy requests that people register if they are interested in attending by calling (217) 581-5114.
