EIU to host a variety of admissions-related events in September

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University will host several admissions-related events this September for prospective students and their families, as well as members of the community. These events will offer a variety of opportunities for interested participants to explore EIU’s campus or attend a specific EIU event and in many cases to learn about EIU’s broad selection of programs and services. Many of the events also will provide participants with a chance to meet current EIU students, faculty, and staff members who can share stories and information regarding their own EIU experiences.
September events at EIU for those wanting to learn more about EIU admissions will include:
Thursday, September 5
- 8:30 a.m.—“Coles County Clash” Scholastic Bowl
(Charleston High School vs. Mattoon High School)
Coleman Hall
Participants from each high school face off in a friendly but competitive annual scholastic competition. This event is particularly appealing to those who enjoy trivia and brain games.
Friday, September 6
- 7 p.m.— “Coles County Clash” Football Game
(Mattoon High School vs. Charleston High School)
O’Brien Field
Bring the family to a night of high school football in the annual “Coles County Clash” on the gridiron. This is a unique community event that EIU hosts every year, allowing students and families from each high school to visit campus and enjoy an evening of friends, food, football and fun.
Saturday, September 14
- 11 a.m.—#FuturePanther Tailgate
On Saturday, September 14, EIU will host its annual #FuturePanther Tailgate—an afternoon of football and fun as prospective and current students join forces to cheer on the EIU Panthers as they square off against the Illinois State Redbirds. Those participating in the official tailgate event will be able to preview life as an EIU student. Prospective students will receive free football tickets for themselves and one guest, get an insider’s tour of campus, and enjoy a cookout with current students, faculty and admissions staff. - Check-In: 11-11:45 a.m. at Pemberton Hall
- Presentation/Campus Tours: 11:15 a.m. - Noon
- Cookout: 12:30 p.m.
- Kickoff: 2 p.m.
In addition, EIU offers daily visit opportunities at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as select Saturdays at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. This fall’s Saturday tours are available on September 7 and 28, October 5, November 2, and December 7.
