(Charleston, IL) — Representatives from WEIU are excited to host “Kids’ Day” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 17 at Eastern Illinois University’s Buzzard Hall, located at 1920 Ninth Street in Charleston.
WEIU and EIU’s Department of Civic Engagement and Volunteerism are inviting families and parents of young children in the community to attend Saturday’s event, which will feature arts and crafts, interactive activities provided by more than 20 community organizations, and a meet-and-greet with two kid favorites: Clifford the Big Red Dog and Nature Cat. A bicycle giveaway also will take place, sponsored by First Federal Savings and Loan.
Organizations offering interactive events include Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Dental Team and Healthy Kids areas, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Illinois, Charleston ATA Martial Arts, the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency program, the Mattoon YMCA, Douglas-Hart Nature Center, Child Care Resource & Referral, the Mattoon Library, the Charleston Parks and Recreation Department, HOPE of East Central Illinois, the Charleston Public Library, the Charleston Cub Scouts, DanceLife, and Phoenix Elite.
