EIU receives additional support from Consolidated Communications
Jul-22-2019(Charleston, IL) – Leaders from Consolidated Communications, Inc. have announced an additional investment in Eastern Illinois University.
Sarah Greider, Corporate Communications Manager for the national broadband and business communications provider, presented a check to Mike Murray, Director of Development for the EIU Foundation, for $2,500 to reaffirm the company’s commitment to EIU’s Community Ambassador Scholarship (CAS) program in mid-July. This is the second investment Consolidated has made to the program.
“Consolidated Communications is excited to continue our partnership with EIU and to invest in the success of our local students,” Greider said. “Many of our employees are alumni with strong ties to EIU, and we’re proud to support a program that creates a brighter future for our local students and communities.”
Eastern’s CAS program encourages local high school graduates to stay in the area by continuing their academic careers at EIU. Like other local and regional businesses, Consolidated Communications benefits greatly from EIU’s graduates, programs and services.
A recent independent study by a regional economic development organization recognizes EIU’s community contributions, indicating EIU adds $503.5 million in economic output to the State of Illinois while contributing $461.8 million in economic output to the region alone on an annual basis.
In all, more than 30 EIU partners have contributed in excess of $180,000 to EIU’s Community Ambassador Scholarship program over the past two years.
