Prospective students can apply online to EIU by October 15 to avoid application fees
(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University is waiving the processing fees for prospective students, who can now apply through EIU’s new, mobile-friendly online application.
Future students interested in the EIU experience and who wish to apply for summer or fall 2020 enrollment as a freshman or undergraduate transfer student at Eastern Illinois University can get a head start by using EIU’s convenient and mobile-friendly online application. Those who apply to EIU online on or before October 15, 2019 will have the university’s application fee completely waived.
“This is a great opportunity to start the application process early, and to save money at the same time,” said Josh Norman, EIU’s associate vice president for enrollment management. “For some students, applying to a university can be intimidating or overwhelming. That’s why at EIU, we have done everything we can to simplify the process with our new mobile-friendly online application. The new application will help us to create strong, confident partnerships with all of our students long before they even enter the classroom.”
Prospective students interested in taking advantage of EIU’s application waiver can do so by visiting https://www.eiu.edu/myeiu/. Creating a free account grants access to EIU’s online application portal, an EIU application checklist, and a variety of other tools that will help guide prospective students and their families through the application process.
EIU also offered an application waiver to prospective EIU students last summer and fall. Coupled with the state’s AIM HIGH Grant initiative and a variety of other regional scholarships—the fee waiver helped EIU increase last year’s freshmen class by nearly 25 percent. That move complemented a broader and more strategic approach to the university’s overall admissions and marketing efforts, which have helped position EIU as a statewide model for thoughtful, incremental growth while working to ensure more Illinois high school graduates stay in Illinois for their higher education experience.
“EIU prides itself on reaching our students where they live with the programs and services they need,” Norman added. “We are committed to creating accessible onramps and pipelines to the incredible educational experience offered here at EIU.”
