EIU’s Spring Fling this Saturday

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University Athletics and the EIU Panther Club will host the university’s 2019 Spring Fling at Lantz Arena this Saturday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the official event start time listed as 6 p.m.

The evening will include a live and silent benefit auction, hors d’oeuvres, plated dinner and dessert, all for the benefit of Eastern Illinois student-athletes. Participants can expect to be entertained and inspired by EIU student-athletes and alumni who will be at the event to personally share stories of how their experiences as Panthers positively influenced their lives.

Each year, EIU’s Spring Fling is the biggest single-day impact of private support for EIU student-athletes. Previous support from this event has helped to support Panther student-athlete success in the classroom and in their respective sports, including:

• 17 EIU teams who qualified to compete in OVC tournaments
• 6 EIU student-athletes who earned OVC Player of the Year awards
• 30 EIU student-athletes who earned OVC Medal of Honor awards (highest number in the OVC)
• 128 EIU student-athletes who were named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll (highest number in the OVC)
• 9 EIU student-athletes who began professional sports careers
