EIU’s Doudna Fine Arts Center offers community fun, excitement in spring 2019

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University’s Doudna Fine Arts Center is sponsoring a variety of community events in spring 2019. Families and friends from across the east central Illinois region have the following shows and performances to look forward to this spring:
60th Annual EIU Jazz Festival Opening Concert
Celebrating EIU’s jazz heritage with special guest and EIU jazz alumni Josh Marcus (alto sax), Aaron Eckert (trombone) and Tim Stanley (trumpet). Music will be included from the jazz festival’s first year—1960—along with classic and contemporary hits.

This one-woman musical, written by and starring Kate Tombaugh, is about a young woman struggling to balance her social life while also beginning a career in opera.

The OK Factor
Cellist Olivia Diercks and violinist Karla Colahan perform folk-inspired music influenced by Americana and Irish fiddle styles as The OK Factor, a duo that’s been described as “pure magic” by Wausau Pilot & Review.
