A map showing the location of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) on the campus of Eastern Illinois University is available at: eiu.edu/health/aed. AEDs are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.
If anyone is experiencing actual or suspected cardiac arrest, call 911. University Police and local EMS will respond, both of which have access to AEDs if one is not nearby.
If you believe that an AED is malfunctioning, please report this to Dr. Matthew Warner at mrwarner@eiu.edu or (217) 581-7786.
