REVISED 11/18/2025 WITH UPDATED DATES: Due to an active leak in EIU's main distribution piping, facilities personnel in conjunction with a contractor will be shutting down steam to campus for necessary repairs. The steam will be shut down the afternoon of November 30.
During the outage there will be no steam, which affects building heat, hot water, and food service functions. All buildings will remain operational. Affected buildings include Physical Science, McAfee, Old Main, Blair Hall, Pemberton Hall, Honors College, Student Services Building, MLK Union, Doudna Fine Arts, UPD, Ford Hall, Mckinney Hall, Weller Hall, Booth Library, Klehm Hall, Coleman Hall, Lumpkin Hall, Thomas Hall, Human Services, Taylor Hall, Lawson Hall, Lantz Complex, Stevenson Hall, Lincoln Hall, Powell-Norton Hall, and Andrews Hall.
Employees with concerns about their work environment during these repairs are encouraged to discuss those concerns with their supervisor(s).
EIU will be tracking the weather and may adjust dates if needed. Additional revisions to this outage will be published if the outage is rescheduled.
